People have been making predictions about the future for as long as humanity has existed --- they're entertaining to contemplate and if they come true, one cements their posthumous reputation as a prophet. In 1848, Karl Marx and Frederich Engels predicted that capitalism would fall apart and that working-class revolutions would sweep the world.
