Description
Malo and welcome to Season 3 Episode 33 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this cloudy but bright Wednesday morning 02 November 2022, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In rugby league – Big Mal’s Australian Kangaroos will be up first in the Rugby League World Cup quarter finals on Friday evening against Michael Cheika’s Lebanon Cedars at Huddersfield, with the winner facing the victor of the New Zealand Kiwis versus the Fiji Bati who play on Saturday in Hull. All-conquering England take on the explosive Papua New Guinea Kumuls in their RLWC quarter final clash in an exciting double-header with England Women’s second RLWC group game against Canada in Wigan early Sunday morning. Completing the RLWC quarter finals will be a thriller between Pasifika giants, Toa Samoa and Mate Ma’a Tonga in Warrington on Monday morning, with the winner set to play either England or the Papua New Guinea Kumuls at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 12 November. In rugby union – All Blacks lock Brodie Retalick has been suspended for two games for his dangerous cleanout at a ruck against Japan in Tokyo, meanwhile Captain Sam “always injured” Cane has gone home after fracturing his cheekbone in the same Test. Also on the plane home with him – injured while pulling on his underwear, is someone who should not have been there in the first place, Dane pensioner Cole. In boxing – former heavyweight boxer Goran Gogic with 21 wins from 27 fights was charged by the U.S. Department of Justice on Monday with trafficking 22 tons of cocaine worth US$1Billion. The 43-year-old Montenegrin was arrested on Sunday night at Miami International Airport while trying to board a flight to Zurich, Switzerland. His lawyer said his arrest came as a surprise as he maintains his innocence. In football – the BIG question is do we watch or not? LGBT soccer fan groups are boycotting the FIFA World Cup in Qatar starting on the 20th November due to Qatar’s treatment of the LGBT community. Qatar anticipates around 1.2 million foreign visitors to attend the world cup. Last week, fans were warned by U.K. Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to “respect” Qatar laws. So some UK LGBT groups are urging their supporters “not to watch the FIFA World Cup on TV, as a statement of principle.” That’s a fair warning because homosexuality is illegal in Qatar — and if prosecuted, Muslims could face the death penalty. You know, how they cut off your hand if you steal? CHOP Aaargh!!!
