Description
Talofa, Ma’lelei’i, Bula and welcome to Season 4 Episode 45 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a beautiful Wednesday morning 15 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In Rugby – former Fijian Drua superstar, Vinaya Habosi has flown the coup according to local media reports in Fiji. The flying Wing has joined Top 14 French Club Racing 92 a year early as he was due to join them in 2024, but has done so now after losing his Drua contract. And in Wales it seems like “Delilah” has got her revenge! Just weeks after the Wales Rugby Union took the ridiculous decision to ban the singing of the Tom Jones hit song “Delilah” at Wales’ home Tests at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, players are threatening going on strike over pay claims. And guess what, fans are still singing the song! In rugby league – the NRL and RLPA are close to final terms for the first ever NRLW Collective Bargaining Agreement for policies relating to pregnancy and parental arrangements allowing leave provisions and support for primary carers of infants. NRLW players can receive private health insurance plus 12 month contracts and the ability to sign multi-year deals from 2023 onwards. In football – the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg gets underway today: Milan vs Tottenham and PSG vs Bayern Munich. Tomorrow Club Brugge vs Benfica and Borussia Dortmund vs Chelsea. Next week Liverpool vs Real Madrid, Frankfurt vs Napoli, Leipzig vs Manchester City and Inter Milan vs Porto. In boxing – Aussie UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski has poured fuel on the fire of cheating allegations against UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev; accusing him of using an IV drip for drastic weight-cutting and to mask the use of performance enhancing drugs. The use of IV drips was banned by the UFC in October 2015 after a decision by the US Anti-Drug Agency. Ummm weight-cutting???
