As we wrap up Earth Month, we wanted to celebrate the work we have been able to do under the 2017 Hillsboro School District Bond to not only make environmentally-sustainable enhancements to our new and existing buildings, but also to secure sizable energy incentives in the process.
Under programs managed by the Oregon Department of Energy and Energy Trust of Oregon, HSD has secured $4,644,160.70 in incentives thus far, which is more than $300,000 in excess of the $4.3 million the bond promised to return to the District’s general fund as a result of the projects.
Our featured staff members are our 2022 Crystal Apple Award recipients. Those of us who were privileged enough to attend the 17th Annual Crystal Apple Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 21st, at the beautifully-renovated Venetian in downtown Hillsboro, were treated to an inspiring evening where we learned about some of the amazing things our staff members are doing each day to make education engaging, relevant, and meaningful for our students. While each of the 33 nominees is a winner, there were ten who received Crystal Apple Awards: In the administrator category, recipients were Janette Johns, Sonta Thompson, and Dave Vickery. In the licensed category, recipients were Terry Alexander, Mike O’Connor, Sheila O’Leary, and Laury Rodriguez. And in the classified category, recipients were Jesus Exiquio, Elizabeth Foglesong, and Stephen Moreno. Congratulations to each of you! You make us extra Proud to be HSD!
