The Golden Knights blew a two-goal lead in Wednesday's preseason game at the Fortress and eventually lost to the L.A. Kings 4-3 in overtime. VGK's starters were primarily front-liners, while the Kings were comprised mostly of Ontario Reign AHL players. Brendon Brisson had an opportunity, however, to start on the top line with Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault. Brisson scored a goal on a Eichel helper in the game. Akil Thomas netted a hat trick for the winners and Tyler Madden scored the game-winner with just :29 remaining. A dangerous hit by Hayden Hodgeson on VGK's Mark Stone fueled a melee in which there was a scrum and punches were thrown. It ended with Stone grabbing rookie Brandt Clarke of the Kings by his jersey and Stone was intimidating the young defenseman, who obviously wanted no part of Stone. Adin Hill played the entire game in net for VGK stopping 24 of 28 shots on goal. We also discuss the status of Zach Whitecloud, who has an upper body injury.
