The LSU Tigers took down the Army Black Knights of West Point 62-0 in Tiger Stadium Saturday night. It was a fanfare filled night with testaments to LSU's opponents honoring the men and women that have served our country. With American flags abreast the Tigers' chests and camoflauge endzones, LSU paid homage to the Black Knights while continuing their quest to the SEC Championship. The offense was buzzing as usual, extending their streak of games with 500+ yards of offense to seven. The last time LSU put up fewer than 500 yards was against the Florida State Seminoles the first week of the season when they put up nearly 450 total yards of offense.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels was 11/15 for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns before backup Garrett Nussmeier got an opportunity to come in for relief in the second half. Wide receivers Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers each had a massive day; they both put up over 120 receiving yards with two touchdowns a pop. True freshman running back was one of a few backups who had the opportunity to prove themselves on Saturday night getting his first game action as an LSU Tiger. He was the leading rusher on the day putting up 91 yards on six carries, including a 67-yard touchdown run that earned him SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
Overall, LSU took care of business against a team that they should have taken care of business against. LSU will look ahead to a massive SEC West swing game at Alabama after a bye this week.
