Description
The Boston Celtics had by most accounts one of the better offseasons around the NBA, adding veteran forward Danilo Gallinari and former Indiana Pacers point guard Malcolm Brogdon via free agency and trade, respectively.
That they managed to do so with a collection of players who rarely saw the floor in the postseason left all of the Celtics' core of players from the 2022 postseason that got them to within two wins of an NBA title has put the Celtics in an enviable position. The depth Boston now has should not only help the team keep minutes down for their best players throughout the 2022-23 regular season, but also affords the team a dizzying array of options to play in terms of different lineups.
They can play very big, or hold their own with small lineups, able to field adept small and tall ball units equally. A squad built for switchy defense? Check. One built for shooting? Easy. Is the plan to put the opponent in a spin cycle with a mixture of passing and offensive skills? Got it.
On this episode of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast, your usual hosts Alex Goldberg, Cameron Tabatabaie, and Justin Quinn take stock of Boston's embarrassment of riches when it comes to the players they can put on the floor together.
