The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Rebecca J. Fraser. Classified as a White Women, Dr. Fraser is a Suspected Racist. An Associate Professor of American History and Culture at the University of East Anglia in England, Dr. Fraser’s “research is primarily concerned with the ways in which discourses of gender, race and sexuality were articulated and interacted in the context of nineteenth century America.” A listener told Gus about her most recent work, which examines black female “intellectuals” in the 19th century. Gus was not impressed with this title. However, there was a brief reference to the role White Women play in maintaining the slave plantation. In fact, Dr. Fraser wrote a whole book on this subject called: Gender, Race and Family in Nineteenth Century America: From Northern Woman to Plantation Mistress. This work examines Sarah Hicks Williams, a White Woman born in New York, who ends up running a 19th century plantation in North Carolina. This book touches many aspects of the System of White Supremacy, including: the Religion of White Supremacy, the starvation of black people, and White people using black people as currency.
