On today's Locked on Cavs co-hosts Chris Manning and Evan Dammarell discuss Isaac Okoro's growth, the team's overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns, the Anderson Varejao signing, and preview Wednesday's matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Cavs rookie forward Isaac Okoro showed tons of offensive flashes while at Auburn, especially as a shooter. In Cleveland's loss to Phoenix, Okoro showed more of those same flashes as he connected on 3 three-point attempts and all 9 of his free throw attempts. Okoro is on a hot streak offensively as of late and should look to build upon it for his sophomore season.
Okoro was also outstanding on defense at times tonight, drawing the assignment of both Devin Booker and Chris Paul. Okoro's defense has been consistently great all season long and that alone should get him All-Rookie honors.
Anderson Varejao signing with the Cavs is a fun thing t happen in an otherwise tumultuous season. Cleveland applied for the hardship exception, meaning Nance and Dellavedova are out for the season. Varejao won't provide reliable depth but he will give casual fans something to be excited about as the season winds down.
This upcoming tilt against the Portland Trail Blazers could be a doozy for Cleveland. Don't be surprised to see players like Isaac Okoro or Kevin Love rested Wednesday night.
