With the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals asking the New Orleans Saints for permission to speak with Sean Payton for their open head coaching positions, there may be a new best-case scenario in town for the Saints. At least, amongst those currently open positions. The Texans not only have the No. 2 overall selection, but the No. 12 as well. The latter would be the best possible first-round positioning they would get in a head coaching trade without having to add in some of their own draft assets. On the other hand, the Arizona Cardinals may be the best-case scenario among open positions for Sean Payton because he can bring in Jeff Ireland or Khai Harley as his next general manager allowing a lot of flexibility, familiarity and creativity to his front office.
