The Marlins had one of their best offensive games of the season, but it wasn't enough to out-slug the explosive Phillies, who scored four runs in the seventh and eighth innings to blow Miami off the field and win this series finale 7-6. ----- 'LIVE' Instant Reaction from Jim GRIES Grieshaber ----- The Marlins roughed up Phillies ace Ranger Suarez for a season-high six earned runs, but the Phils' offense picked up their ace on a day when he needed it most. Suarez gave up a season-high six runs on nine hits in just 4 2/3 innings, and he didn't strike out one Marlins' hitter. The Phillies didn't help Suarez- or any of their pitchers- on defense, committing five errors, also a season-high. But the offense was a different story, as Trea Turner's go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning capped off a five-run comeback, and gave the Phillies the lead they would never give up. Turner had three hits and two RBI's on his 31st birthday, leading the way for the Phillies, who struggled tremendously in this series without injured stars Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, both hurt late in the series opener on Thursday. The Phillies went 6-34 with runners in scoring position, and left 30+ runners on base in this series, but Turner and Marlin-killer Nick Castellanos (two-out, two-run single in the 6th) got them when they counted the most late in this series finale, when the Phils were on the ropes- and on the verge of losing 3-4 at home to the worst team in the league. Castellanos went 4-5 with a double and three RBI's for the Phillies, and Alec Bohm added two hits and two RBI's- including his 10th homer. Bohm leads the NL with 66 RBI's. Bryan De La Cruz led the Miami attack with two hits- including his team-leading 15th of the season- and two RBI's, Emanuel Rivera went 2-2 with a double, two RBI's, two walks and two runs scored for Miami. Dane Myers doubled twice, and Josh Bell added a double and a single for the Marlins, who had six extra base hits today. The Phillies tagged Miami starter Yonny Chirinos for nine hits, scoring four runs- three of them earned- in 4 1/3 innings before the Marlins bullpen took over and got it done. (again) The Marlins (30-54)split the four-game series against the National League East-leading Phils. (55-29) They are 4-4 against them this year. The Fish head home to welcome in the red-hot Boston Red Sox for a three-game series starting tomorrow at 6:40pm ET. Valente Bellozo will make his second start for Miami, facing Boston's Kutter Crawford.
