Description

A few weeks ago Italy hosted the OCR European Championships!  While it can be difficult to have European athletes on the show due to frequent difficulties such as time zones and language barriers, the effort is worth it due to the abundance of talent that they have overseas! This time we had the privilege to speak to Dutch athlete Stijn Lagrand!  He is no stranger to doing well in elite OCR events but this OCR European Championships he took first not only in the short course, but the standard, and the men's relay team event as well which is a first in that event's history (along with Alisa Petrova who also achieved that honor this year)! We talk about his history of survival running, his team Hang On in the Netherlands, their Hang On Run event, how the style of sport varies depending on where events are held in Europe, the 3 band system, an overly complicated rule book, potential benefits of a more time trial format, how it felt to realize he placed first, dealing with pressure and much more! Be sure to keep an eye on the awesome athletes in Europe! A good start would be following Stijn and That OCR Guys! 0:00 – 2:57 – Intro 2:57 – 9:10 – Quick News 9:10 – 10:03 – Content Preface 10:03 -56:42 - Stijn Lagrand Interview 56:42 - End – Outro Next weekend we will try to have an athlete on from Spartan Ultra World Championships but due to limited time availability and a busy weekend may have someone from War X or a Savage Race story that caught Mike's eye! ____ News Stories: Newbsanity's Last Man Standing Results Robert Killian's Promotion Thibault Debusschere Injury Hiker Rescued After 10 Days Vigilante Fitness Couple's Hyrox Affiliate Gym Your First Mud Run Event Bluey as Potential Mascot for Olympics in Australia Anne Clifford's Uncle War X Podium Cheddar Goblin Secret Link Forbidden Word Secret Link Homemade Antenna Secret Link Body Carry Secret Link Fat Happy Secret Link ____ Related Episodes: 121. MStefano Running is a group of friends that went outside their comfort zone in 2012 and started training to run in fun runs as well as mud runs and other events. We urge others to get off the couch and go for a run or even a walk. Exercise is great for the mind and body. We hope you enjoy listening to our adventures and consider trying one for yourself.
