Din & Daf: Conceptual Analysis of Halakha Through Case Study with Dr. Elana Stein Hain

In this session, we examine several sources within the Bavli about the mitzvah of redeeming captives that conflict with each other, having great impact on decisions about what “cost” or sacrifice is appropriate to expend on saving hostages. Given the resonance of this topic with today’s Israeli reality, we also set the stage for 20th century Israeli discussions about this issue.
