About this series
Magic is back--and only the man who once tried to stop it can save his world from what happens next.
Magic is back in Reandn's world--and when spies use it to slaughter his patrol, he takes the blame--and is left adrift in a society still reeling from the changes wrought by magic's return.
But King's Keep offers him a chance to regain his rank: escort the spoiled Highborn woman through the rebel-torn Resioran border to King's Keep. Soon enough Reandn is deeply embroiled in Resioran treachery. To keep his people alive and prevent a catastrophic wizard war, he'll have to face his own worst enemy.

"Mystery, suspense, and loyalty fill out the plot, but primarily this novel focuses on the dangers of obsession. it also deals hauntingly with loss: of loved ones, of home and status, of entire ways of life.... It will keep you guessing right to the end, and there are no simple solutions to the complex problems presented."

One man loses everything to magic–and will do anything to prevent it from taking over his world. Magic has never been a part of Reandn's life. Almost gone from Keland when he was born, there is no trace of it left by the time he patrols the Keep lands as an elite King's Wolf. Magic has never been a part of Reandn's life. Until the people under his care start dying. Until the threat extends to his family-and then turns on him. Someone, somewhere, is trying to draw magic back into Keland, and they don't care what-or who-is destroyed in the process. But Reandn does. I remember I loved it…Mostly, I remember the characters – because rich characterization is one of Durgin's best skills. One of many, of course – she also writes great action scenes, and moves the plot along briskly. I can't wait to read this again!" –B&N Reader "If you love Game of Thrones, you'll love Touched by Magic. As with Game of Thrones, the magic doesn't overwhelm the story and the characters; it enriches them. Durgin populates her fantasy world with people we care about deeply, because they feel so real. VERY highly recommended!" –Kindle Reader "I LOVED Touched by Magic! Doranna Durgin is one of those rare and gifted fantasy authors who create vibrant characters you really, really care about. I'd give this book ten stars if I could." –B&N Reader "The setting in this book is so real you can all but smell it. The characters are vividly painted. The mystery keeps you turning pages long after dark. There are two books in the King's Wolf Saga. Get them both because you're not going to want to let Reandn go after the first one." –Kindle Reader

Doranna Durgin
Doranna Durgin spent her childhood filling notebooks first with stories and art, then with novels. After obtaining a degree in wildlife illustration and environmental education, she spent a number of years deep in the Appalachian Mountains. When she emerged, it was as a writer who found herself irrevocably tied to the natural world and its creatures - and with a new touchstone to the rugged spirit that helped settle the area, which she instills in her characters. Dun Lady's Jess, Doranna's first published fantasy novel, received the 1995 Compton Crook/Stephen Tall award for the best first book in the fantasy, science fiction and horror genres; she now has fifteen novels of eclectic genres on the shelves and more on the way. Most recently, she's leaped gleefully into the world of action-romance. When she's not writing, Doranna builds author web sites, wanders around outside with a camera and works with horses and dogs - currently, she's teaching agility classes. There's a Lipizzan in her backyard, a mountain looming outside her office window, a pack of agility dogs romping in the house and a laptop sitting on her desk - and that's just the way she likes it.
