About this series
In the postwar renaissance of the 1950s, the idealistic daughter of a fishing industry magnate grapples with knowing that her father's decades-old criminal activities, hidden under the guise of respectability, have impacted everyone she loves.
Deidre Doherty is aware she has led a privileged life in the small town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, while others have not been so lucky. Her burning desire to tackle the social justice issues of the day — systemic racism, sexism, and homophobia — propels her to try and reconcile the inequities she sees around her.
A personal loss, after her marriage to a young history teacher, profoundly affects them both. Deidre's father encourages the couple to forget the tragedy and move on. Dean Doherty's approach is reflective of his cynical nature as he has no time for anything that does not serve his own self-interest.
As Deidre discovers more and more about her parents' early marriage, and the sources of the Doherty wealth, tension builds. When the secrets and lies are exposed, Dean Doherty will pay the price that the past demands.
Undeniable Relations is the third novel in Bruce W. Bishop's Families' Storytelling trilogy. Readers of the other two novels, Unconventional Daughters and Uncommon Sons, will be happy to see four beloved characters return. Join them and Deidre in a compelling tale of deception and intrigue.

When a widowed mother and her adult daughter vie for the attention of the same man, tension escalates and threatens to destroy their family. This situation is one of many dilemmas facing the women of a family separated by the Atlantic Ocean and a world of secrets and deception. Can Eva Carroll, a young feminist and budding journalist, placate the conventions of the day? The Great War is over. Everyone is optimistic. Eva is the daughter of one of three sisters who have already been leading unconventional lives. Although born in Boston, she now lives with her mother, Elisabet, and Swedish grandparents in the small Canadian coastal town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Eva's two aunts who had spent time in Sweden decide to return to Canada to rejoin their sister. One aunt, obsessed with social status, has bought her title of 'countess', while the other has a quiet loving relationship with her female housemate. When the siblings get together, their family background in Sweden is laid bare as they learn the truth about their parents and a brother they had never known. As Eva finds herself caught in the midst of rivalries among the three sisters, and a growing mental health issue concerning one of them, her marriage and familial relationships are threatened. Now her future faces unexpected personal turmoil. Her life has definitely changed during the Roaring '20s and into the Great Depression. Unconventional Daughters is the first book in a series of family and friends stories nestled in unique historical settings. Immerse yourself in a tale of murder, discrimination, diversity, and discovery 1935. Nova Scotia, Canada. Marc Youssef constantly wrestles with his commitment to his strict Lebanese culture and upbringing. But when you're a thirty-four-year-old bachelor — and you are secretly attracted to other men — deception at home and at work simmers daily and threatens to boil over. After two guests are found dead in the tony railway hotel in Halifax where Marc works, his job is compromised, and his personal life is vulnerable to exposure. One of the suspects in the possible murder investigation just happens to be Marc's clandestine and married love interest. Journalist Eva McMaster, Marc's best friend, is determined to help him find out what really happened. The two become unlikely sleuths in this bizarre incident that becomes the talk of the east coast city. Uncommon Sons is a fascinating tale of sexual identity, systemic racism, familial obligations, workplace pressures, and the bonds of love and friendship prior to World War II. Interlinked to Bishop's debut novel, Unconventional Daughters, this page-turner further explores what happens when adults are not what and who they are expected to be. Pick up a copy of Uncommon Sons and reunite with some of the beloved characters from the author's debut novel. The third book in the trilogy, Undeniable Relations, was originally released in December 2022. Praise for Uncommon Sons "…an exploration of identity and prejudice, of the tension between old ways and new. … Mr. Bishop handles these difficult issues deftly and with sensitivity, as his main characters Marc and Eva seek to find their own way through the discrimination that surrounds them in their quest for a more tolerant world." – Riana Everly, author of The Assistant and Through a Different Lens "An intriguing mystery, great characters, and a lesser known facet of Canadian history combine to make Uncommon Sons a compelling read!" – Linda Bennett Pennell, author of Miami Days Havana Nights
